Unit 14 P4

Unit 14-P4

Samsung today launched the first true compact camera/smart device hybrid - the Galaxy Camera, with 3G/4G connectivity as well as Wi-Fi (which sets it apart from Wi-Fi-only competitors like the recently-announced Nikon Coolpix S800c).

Camera manufacturers have been seeing sales of their compact cameras fall for a long time now, challenged by a new generation of camera-equipped smartphones. As the photographic specification of phones get better, there's less need for most casual photographers to carry a dedicated camera, and if you're in the business of selling compact cameras, this is a serious problem. But Samsung believes it has a solution. Take a WB850F camera, and a Galaxy SIII smartphone and blend them.

Easily the most portable of the three laptops, the Samsung Series 9 is only 14mm thick and weighs a paltry 1.2kg. If you plan to take your photos out and about on trips or holidays, then this is an ideal companion that lets you drop in your photos and begin tweaking them straight away.

One huge selling point of the Samsung Series 9 is its excellent screen, which has a pin-sharp 1,600 x 900 high definition pixel resolution. Because the screen is a matte display, it’s not covered with a glossy reflective transistor coating, so you’ll be able to work on your photos outside or in brightly lit areas without having to suffer irritating reflections.

The power isn’t as strong as the other two machines we’ve listed as the Series 9 comes with an Intel Core i5 processor and an integrated graphics card. There are also only two USB ports which can be limiting in terms of connectivity. But the internal SSD drive means that this laptop is very quick off the mark when it comes to booting-up and accessing programs.
